Orders & Checkout

Q: How do I place an order?

A: Make sure you're in the correct region/currency, browse the collection, select your size, and add items to your cart. At checkout, enter your shipping and payment details. Once payment is confirmed, you'll receive an order confirmation email straight away.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

A: We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and any other options displayed at checkout. All payments are processed securely.

Q: Is my payment information secure?

A: Yes. Tesshin does not store your card details. All payment data is handled by PCI-compliant payment processors. Your information is safe.

Q: I placed an order but haven't received a confirmation email. What should I do?

A: Check your spam or junk folder first — confirmation emails occasionally land there. If it's not there after 30 minutes, email us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com with the name and email address used at checkout and we'll look into it immediately.

Q: Can I modify or cancel my order after placing it?

A: Orders begin processing quickly, so changes cannot be guaranteed. Contact us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com as soon as possible. If your order hasn't entered processing yet, we'll do our best to help. Once dispatched, no changes are possible.

Q: Can I change my shipping address after ordering?

A: If your order hasn't been dispatched, contact us immediately and we'll try to update it. Once shipped, address changes are not possible. Please double-check your details carefully before confirming your order.

Q: Do I need an account to order?

A: No. You can check out as a guest. Creating an account lets you track orders, view order history, and check out faster next time.

Q: My promo code isn't working. What do I do?

A: Check that the code hasn't expired and that it applies to the items in your cart — some codes are product or category specific. Make sure the code is entered exactly as given, with no extra spaces. If you're still having trouble, contact us and we'll sort it out.

Shipping & Delivery

Q: Where do you ship to?

A: We ship to most countries worldwide — including Hong Kong, mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, the UK, the EU, and the Middle East. We do not currently ship to Russia, Belarus, or Ukraine. Your country's availability will be confirmed at checkout.

Q: Where are orders shipped from?

A: All Tesshin orders are shipped directly from Hong Kong.

Q: How long does it take to process my order before it ships?

A: Orders are processed within 1–3 business days from payment confirmation. This includes quality inspection, verification, and packaging. Business days exclude weekends and Hong Kong public holidays. During peak periods, processing may extend to 5 business days.

Q: How long does delivery take?

A: Estimated delivery times from the date of dispatch are as follows — Hong Kong: 2–5 business days; mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan: 7–14 business days; Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand: 7–14 business days; United States, Canada: 7–14 business days; United Kingdom, European Union: 7–14 business days; Middle East: 7–12 business days. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Q: Which carriers do you use?

A: We use DHL Express, SF Express, UPS, Hongkong Post, Fedex, Aramex, or Quantium depending on your destination. Your carrier will be shown in your shipping confirmation email.

Q: How much does shipping cost?

A: Shipping fees are calculated at checkout based on your destination. All fees are shown before you confirm payment, with no surprises.

Q: Do you offer free shipping?

A: Yes, free shipping is available above certain order thresholds depending on your region. Current thresholds are displayed on the website and at checkout.

Q: How do I track my order?

A: Once your order ships, you'll receive a tracking number by email. Allow up to 48 hours for tracking updates to appear after dispatch. Use the tracking number on the carrier's website for real-time updates.

Q: My tracking hasn't updated in several days. Is something wrong?

A: Tracking can pause while packages are in transit between countries or clearing customs — this is common for international shipments and doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. If there's been no activity for more than 10 business days and you're outside your estimated delivery window, email us and we'll investigate.

Q: I need my order for a specific event or competition. Can you guarantee delivery by a certain date?

A: Delivery times are estimates and cannot be guaranteed. If you have a deadline, we recommend ordering well in advance and selecting the fastest available shipping option at checkout. We cannot accept liability for delays caused by carriers or customs.

Customs, Duties & Taxes

Q: Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes on my order?

A: Possibly, depending on where you live. Customs duties and import taxes are not included in our prices or shipping fees. They are assessed by your country's customs authority and are your responsibility to pay. Below is a summary for major markets.

Q: What's the customs situation for orders to the United States?

A: US orders may be subject to applicable import tariffs on goods originating from Hong Kong. Tariff policies are subject to change by the US government. We recommend checking current regulations at cbp.gov before ordering. Any applicable duties are the customer's responsibility.

Q: What's the customs situation for orders to the United Kingdom?

A: Orders to the UK are generally below the £135 customs duty threshold, so no UK import duty applies. However, UK VAT (20%) may apply and could be assessed by the carrier at delivery.

Q: What's the customs situation for orders to the European Union?

A: EU orders may be subject to VAT at your local rate, which ranges from 19% to 27% depending on country. Your carrier may collect it at delivery along with a handling fee.

Q: What's the customs situation for orders to Australia and New Zealand?

A: Goods valued at AUD $1,000 or less are generally exempt from customs duty and GST at the Australian border. Most Tesshin orders fall well within this threshold. New Zealand has a similar NZD $1,000 threshold, so most orders will also clear duty-free.

Q: What's the customs situation for orders to Canada?

A: Goods imported into Canada via courier with a value exceeding CAD $150 may be subject to customs duties and taxes (GST/HST/PST). Depending on exchange rates, a full Tesshin order may exceed this threshold. You may receive a duty assessment at delivery — please factor this in when ordering.

Q: What's the customs situation for orders to Southeast Asia and the Middle East?

A: Rates vary by country. UAE and Saudi Arabia orders may be subject to 5% customs duty plus local VAT (UAE 5%, Saudi Arabia 15%). In Southeast Asia, Indonesia and Vietnam have higher import duties on clothing — check your local customs authority before ordering.

Q: I was charged extra fees at delivery I wasn't expecting. Can I get a refund?

A: Unfortunately, customs duties and import taxes are assessed by your country's government and are outside our control. We cannot refund these charges. Our Shipping Policy includes regional customs guidance to help you understand what to expect before ordering.

Q: My package is stuck in customs. What should I do?

A: Packages usually clear customs within a few business days. If customs requires documentation or payment from you, your carrier will contact you directly. If your package has been held for more than 10 business days with no communication, contact us and we'll assist where we can.

Q: What happens if I refuse to pay customs charges and the package is returned?

A: If a package is returned because of unpaid customs, the original shipping fee is non-refundable. Reshipment may be arranged at your cost, subject to availability. Please refer to our Shipping Policy for full details.

Fit & Sizing

Q: How do I find my correct size?

A: Every product page includes a detailed size chart with chest, sleeve, and torso measurements. We strongly recommend measuring yourself and comparing directly to the chart rather than relying on your usual clothing size, as sizing can vary across brands and styles.

Q: How do I measure myself correctly?

A: For rashguards, measure your chest at its widest point with the tape measure sitting flat and parallel to the ground. For shorts, measure your natural waist (the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel). All measurements should be taken over base clothing or skin, not over other gear.

Q: Do rashguards run true to size?

A: Our rashguards are designed for a competition compression fit — they should feel snug and close to the body without restricting movement. If you're between sizes or prefer a slightly looser feel, we recommend sizing up. The product page notes the intended fit for each style.

Q: How tight should a rashguard fit?

A: A properly fitting rashguard should be snug against your body — close enough that opponents can't grab loose fabric, but not so tight it restricts breathing or arm movement. You should have a full range of motion overhead and no bunching at the sleeves or torso. If you're unsure, size up.

Q: How should BJJ shorts fit?

A: Shorts should sit comfortably at the waist with no sagging or excessive tightness. The drawstring and waistband should hold them securely during explosive movement. The leg length should allow for dynamic shots, deep guards, and butterfly positions without riding up. When in doubt, go with your waist measurement rather than your usual shorts size.

Q: I'm between two sizes. Which should I choose?

A: For rashguards, we generally recommend sizing up if you're between sizes — a slightly looser rashguard is more comfortable to train in than one that's too tight. For shorts, your waist measurement is the priority. Contact us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com before ordering if you'd like a specific recommendation.

Q: I have a longer torso than average. Will your rashguards be long enough?

A: Yes — our rashguards are designed to fit all torsos with sufficient length. For more details, our size chart includes torso length measurements where applicable. Feel free to contact us with your measurements before ordering — we're happy to advise.

Q: I'm a larger or heavier-built athlete. Do you cater to bigger sizes?

A: Yes — we offer up to 2XL sizes that fit athletes in all weight classes. If you're unsure, contact us with your measurements and we'll do our best to advise or let you know whether a suitable size is available.

Q: Do sizes run the same across all products?

A: Sizing may vary slightly between rashguards and shorts due to different models, fabric constructions, and intended fits. Always check the specific size chart on each product page rather than assuming sizes are consistent across styles.

Q: I received my order and the fit isn't right. What are my options?

A: For customers outside the EU and UK, all sales are final — we encourage you to review the size chart and contact us before purchasing if you're unsure. For EU and UK customers, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for unused, unworn items. Please see our Return & Refund Policy or the Returns section of this FAQ for details.

Materials & Performance

Q: What fabric are the rashguards made from?

A: Our rashguards are made from a 85% polyester, 15% elastane technical fabric blend and a 88%/12% specialty blend for our adaptive thermo-weave mesh. The construction provides superior breathability, 4-way stretch, ergonomic compression, temperature regulation, friction protection, and shape retention over time.

Q: What fabric are the shorts made from?

A: Our shorts use a lightweight stretch ripstop / poly-elastane blend construction. They're designed for unrestricted movement, durability under mat friction, secure fit throughout rounds, and quick drying after training.

Q: Do the rashguards stretch in all directions?

A: Yes. Our rashguards use a 4-way stretch fabric that moves with you in every direction — overhead, laterally, and through rotational movement. There should be no restriction during takedowns, guard work, or submissions.

Q: Are the fabrics moisture-wicking?

A: Yes. Our polyester-elastane construction wicks moisture away from the skin during training, keeping you cooler and drier on the mat. The fabric is engineered to manage sweat rather than absorb it.

Q: Will the sublimation print fade or crack over time?

A: Our designs use sublimation printing, where dye is bonded directly into the fabric fibres rather than sitting on the surface. This means the print will not crack, peel, or flake like screen-printed gear. Some gradual fading may occur with heavy use and repeated washing over long periods of time — this is normal and not a defect. Following the care instructions in this FAQ will significantly extend print life.

Q: Are the seams flatlock stitched?

A: Yes. Our 6-thread flatlock stitching lies flat against the skin, minimising friction and the risk of mat burns from raised seams during ground work. Referred to as the "golden standard" of martial arts gear, it's durability is made for explosive movements and contact sports.

Q: Are the shorts suitable for use outside of BJJ, such as swimming or surfing?

A: Our shorts are designed primarily for BJJ and grappling training. While the fabric handles moisture well, they are not designed as swimwear and prolonged chlorine or saltwater exposure may affect the fabric over time. For best results, rinse promptly after any water exposure and follow the care instructions.

Q: What's the waistband construction on the shorts like?

A: Our shorts feature a wide elastic waistband with an internal drawstring and double-lined silicone inner-waist loop. This combination ensures a secure, adjustable fit that stays in place during movement without digging in during ground work.

Q: How durable is the gear under regular training?

A: Our products are engineered for high-frequency use. With correct care, you should expect years of regular training use before normal wear begins to show. Durability is directly affected by washing habits, training intensity, and how the gear is stored — see the Care & Maintenance section for tips on making it last.

Care & Maintenance

Q: How should I wash my rashguard and shorts?

A: Hand or machine wash cold (30°C / 86°F or below), inside out, with a mild non-bleach detergent. Wash on a gentle or delicate cycle. Hang dry only — do not tumble dry. Keep gear away from radiators and direct sunlight while drying.

Q: Can I tumble dry my gear?

A: No. Tumble drying will damage the elastane fibres, cause the fabric to lose its stretch and compression properties, and may warp or shrink the garment. Always hang dry.

Q: Can I iron my gear?

A: No. Never iron rashguards or shorts. Heat damages the sublimation print, the elastane fibres, and any bonded elements. If your gear is wrinkled, lay it flat or hang it — wrinkles will naturally fall out.

Q: Can I use bleach or fabric softener?

A: No to both. Bleach degrades the fabric fibres and destroys the sublimation print. Fabric softener coats the fibres, breaking down the moisture-wicking properties and causing premature odor buildup. Use only mild, performance-wash detergent or a standard gentle detergent.

Q: How do I prevent color fading?

A: Washing products inside out is the single most effective step for preserving print vibrancy. Use cold water, a gentle cycle, and a mild detergent. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during drying. Keep gear away from chlorine.

Q: How soon after training should I wash my gear?

A: As soon as possible. Leaving sweaty gear bunched up in a bag or on the floor accelerates bacteria and mold growth, which causes permanent odor and can degrade the fabric over time. If you can't wash immediately, at minimum rinse with cold water and hang the gear to air out until you can wash it properly.

Q: My gear smells even after washing. What do I do?

A: Persistent odor is usually caused by bacteria embedded in the fibres from not washing promptly after training. Try soaking the gear in cold water with white vinegar (1 part vinegar to 4 parts water) for 30–60 minutes before washing. Avoid hot water — heat sets odor rather than removing it. Ensure the gear dries fully before storing; damp storage is the most common cause of recurring smell.

Q: Can I wash my gear with other clothes?

A: Yes, as long as you wash cold and on a gentle cycle. Avoid washing with heavy items like jeans or towels that can abrade the fabric. Zips and velcro from other garments can also snag the fabric — turn everything inside out and close all zips before washing together.

Q: How should I store my gear between training sessions?

A: Store clean, fully dry gear in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store damp gear in sealed bags or drawers — this traps moisture and encourages bacterial growth. If you have multiple sets, rotating between them gives each one time to fully recover shape between uses.

Q: The print is starting to crack. Is that a defect or normal wear?

A: If the print is cracking, peeling, or flaking, this is more consistent with screen printing than sublimation — sublimated prints bond into the fabric and should not crack. If this occurs on a relatively new item, contact us with photos as it may indicate a manufacturing issue. If it develops after heavy use and washing, it may be a result of using hot water, tumble drying, or ironing, which are not covered under our warranty.

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges

Q: What is your return policy?

A: For customers outside the EU and UK, all sales are final except in the case of verified manufacturing defects. We do not accept returns for change of mind, incorrect size selection, or personal preference — we encourage reviewing size charts carefully and contacting us before ordering if unsure. For EU and UK customers, a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies. See our Return & Refund Policy for full details.

Q: I ordered the wrong size. Can I exchange it?

A: For customers outside the EU and UK: size exchanges are not available. For EU and UK customers: your 14-day withdrawal right applies for unused, unworn items returned in original condition. You can return the item and place a new order in the correct size. You are responsible for return shipping costs.

Q: My item arrived with a manufacturing defect. What do I do?

A: Contact us at tesshinfightwear.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number, a clear description of the issue, and photos or video showing the defect. We'll assess the claim and provide a resolution — which may include a replacement, repair, or refund depending on the circumstances.

Q: What counts as a manufacturing defect?

A: A manufacturing defect is a fault present in the product at the time of delivery arising from the production process — for example, seam or stitching failure not caused by training use, fabric defects present at delivery, printing defects at the time of receipt, or receiving the wrong item. Normal wear and tear, pilling from friction, fading from washing, and damage from improper care are not manufacturing defects.

Q: I received the wrong item. What happens?

A: We're sorry about that. Email us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com with your order number and a photo of what you received. We'll arrange to send the correct item as quickly as possible.

Q: How long does a refund take?

A: Approved refunds are processed within 14 business days to your original payment method. Your bank or card provider may take additional time to reflect the credit. If you haven't seen the refund after 14 business days, contact us.

Q: I'm an EU or UK customer. How do I exercise my 14-day withdrawal right?

A: Email us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com within 14 calendar days of receiving your order. Include your name, order number, and which items you wish to return. We'll confirm the return address. Items must be returned within 14 days of your notification, unused and in original condition with all tags attached. You are responsible for return shipping costs. See our Return & Refund Policy — including the model withdrawal form in Appendix A — for full details.

Q: Will my original shipping fee be refunded?

A: Original shipping fees are non-refundable in most cases. For EU and UK withdrawal returns, the standard shipping cost paid at checkout is refundable — but any expedited or premium shipping upgrade is not.

Lost, Missing & Damaged Packages

Q: My tracking says delivered but I haven't received anything. What do I do?

A: Check with your neighbours, building concierge, or any safe spots near your door the carrier may have used. Then contact the carrier directly with your tracking number to request a delivery confirmation. If that doesn't resolve it, email us and we'll help investigate.

Q: My package appears to be lost in transit. What happens?

A: If your tracking shows no movement for an extended period and your order is beyond the maximum estimated delivery window for your region, contact us. We'll open a carrier investigation within 5 business days. If the carrier confirms the package is lost, we'll offer you a replacement or a full refund at your choice.

Q: My package arrived damaged. What should I do?

A: Before opening the packaging further, photograph both the outer packaging and the damaged contents. Email us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com within 5 business days of delivery with photos and your order number. We'll assess the situation and determine the appropriate next steps with the carrier.

Q: I accidentally gave the wrong shipping address. What can I do?

A: Contact us immediately at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com. If your order hasn't dispatched yet, we'll correct it. If it has already shipped, we cannot redirect the package — and if it's returned to us due to an incorrect address, reshipment will be at your cost.

Common Problems & Troubleshooting

Q: My rashguard is pilling after a few sessions. Is this a defect?

A: Our products use a specialized pilling-resistant weave which reduces the amount of fabric pilling. After prolonged periods of use, light pilling on the outer surface after training is normal — it results from fabric friction against mats and training partners and is not considered a manufacturing defect. Pilling is affected by the abrasiveness of your training surfaces, washing frequency, and wash cycle. Washing inside out on a gentle cold cycle will slow the process. Heavy or rapid pilling on a new garment after minimal use may indicate a quality issue — contact us with photos if so.

Q: The colour on my gear looks slightly different from the website photos. Is something wrong?

A: Screen colours vary depending on your monitor, phone, and display settings — this is standard across all online retail. Sublimation colours can also appear slightly more or less vibrant in person compared to a backlit digital image. Minor colour variation is not considered a defect. If the item is significantly different from what was described, contact us.

Q: My shorts' waistband has started to stretch out. Is that normal?

A: Some natural relaxing of the waistband elastic occurs over time with regular use — this is normal. If significant stretching happens quickly on a relatively new pair, contact us with details as it may indicate a production issue with that batch.

Q: I ordered two items but only one arrived in the package.

A: Email us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com with your order number and the items received. We'll check the packing record and arrange for the missing item to be sent or a refund to be issued as appropriate.

Q: The website isn't accepting my payment. What should I do?

A: First, check that your card details are entered correctly and that your billing address matches what's on file with your bank. Some banks flag international transactions as a security measure — a quick call to your bank to approve the transaction usually resolves it. If the problem persists, try a different payment method or browser. You can also email us and we'll see if there's an issue on our end.

Q: My discount code isn't applying at checkout.

A: Check that the code is entered correctly (no extra spaces), hasn't expired, and applies to the items in your cart. Some codes are restricted to specific products or are single-use. If everything looks right and it still won't apply, email us with the code and we'll check it.

Q: I've been waiting longer than the estimated delivery window. What do I do?

A: Check your tracking link first for any carrier updates or customs notifications. If your package is significantly overdue and tracking shows no movement, email us at tesshin.bjj@gmail.com with your order number and we'll investigate with the carrier.

Q: I think my package may have been stolen after delivery. What can I do?

A: Unfortunately, Tesshin is not responsible for packages confirmed as delivered by the carrier. We recommend filing a report with your local police and contacting your carrier to request a proof of delivery scan.

Q: My gear has a smell straight out of the package. Is that normal?

A: Some technical fabrics have a faint factory or packaging smell when first opened — this is normal and not a defect. A cold machine wash will remove it before your first use.

Q: I washed my gear and it shrank. What happened?

A: Shrinkage is almost always caused by washing in warm or hot water, or by tumble drying. Elastane fibres are particularly heat-sensitive. Always wash cold and hang dry. If your gear shrank significantly on a first cold wash, contact us with photos as it may indicate a material quality issue.

Q: The drawstring on my shorts came out of the waistband channel. What do I do?

A: Use a safety pin or a small drawstring threading tool (a bent wire works too) to thread it back through the channel. Attach the pin to one end of the drawstring, feed it through the channel opening, and work it through until it comes out the other side. This is not a defect — tying a knot at both ends of the drawstring after threading can prevent it from happening again.
